What is Art?
Art is a method of visually communicating, to express ideas, expand on ideas and have fun during the process. It is a way to connect with humans and our inner-selves. Art is joy and art is healing.
Artist Statement:
In an age increasingly shaped by technology and AI, my work is rooted in classical art-making traditions. I am deeply inspired by European atelier practices and the technical mastery of artists from the 16th to 20th centuries, particularly their ability to capture light, form, and composition with precision. My practice centers on studying and mastering foundational skills especially anatomy and lighting as a pathway to creative freedom and visual communication. I draw influence from both traditional and contemporary artists. Representational artists like Stephen Bauman, Jeffrey Watts, and Devin Cecil-Wishing inform my technical approach, while digital artists such as Hillary Jane, Loish, and Ergo Josh inspire my engagement with contemporary culture. My process involves rigorous study, followed by applying those skills in illustrative works that reflect my interests in counterculture, fashion, beauty, and music. Working across traditional, mixed, and digital media, I aim to merge classical techniques with modern subject matter. As an artist, I see myself as a lifelong learner, continuously evolving through both discipline and exploration. Ultimately, my goal is to create work that not only demonstrates technical mastery but also evokes emotion and inspires future generations of artists.
